Tabakland

Tasting Notes The Tabakland shows layers of cassis, dark fruit, hints of leather, tobacco and spice. Well structured, fine velvet tannins and lingering after taste. Has potential to age for up to 10 years.

Rosalind

Tasting Notes The Rosalind is an elegant, well crafted wine that can be matured for 12-20 years. Intense dark ruby colour with cherries, plums and fynbos on the nose.

Blend 41% Cabernet Franc, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot

Watershed Syrah

Tasting Notes The Watershed Syrah boasts black cherry, spice and leather notes. Layers of dark chocolate, fennel and dark fruit underpinned by fine, well integrated tannins. Great ageing potential.

Blend 100% Shiraz

Pair with Grilled Sirloin, rump and fillet, venison stew, roast game birds.

Houmoed

Tasting Notes The Houmoed Chenin Blanc shows bee’s wax/dried peach on the nose, along with almonds & marzipan from the barrels, good weight on the palate with some minerality and a long finish. Fruit and oak well balanced, a big wine with the typical mouth feel of ripe Chenin.

Blend 100% Chenin Blanc

Pair with Seafood bisque, roasted line fish, grilled lobster, roast and grilled poultry.

Laatlam

Tasting Notes This is the first noble late harvest wine to be bottled on Mooiplaas. Nose shows the typical botrytis character, dried apricot & prune, great concentration and sweetness, backed by good acidity. The extended barrel ageing time adds to the complexity of the wine.

Blend 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Delicious with a strong blue cheese!

Duel

Tasting Notes The Duel MCC (NV) leans more towards the Pinot Noir character showing cherries, almond and honey comb, dried peach and apricot on the nose. Palate is full and rounded, fine creamy mousse.

Blend 55% Pinot Noir 45% Chardonnay

The Classic Range

When it comes to winemaking, our cellar master, Louis Roos, is a true purist. He uses a range of classic and traditional winemaking processes to produce the Mooiplaas wines, such as wild yeast, natural fermentation, light filtration and maturation in small oak barrels.

“To produce premium wines you have to follow the ‘classic’ approach,” says Louis.

“Use the best grapes from the best vineyards with minimal interference during the winemaking process. That will give you wines that are distinctive and expressive of place and vintage.”

We believe that wine should be authentic, elegant, well balanced and structured while showing its vibrance and fullness of flavour. It must add joy to life!

Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting Notes  Tropical notes on the nose, winter melon  and litchi, fresh palate is full, good balance and length.

Chenin Blanc

Tasting Notes The Chenin Blanc Bush Vines shows our characteristic wild honey, peaches and apricot flavours. A well made complex wine with a well balanced palate, good structure and long lingering finish.

Blend 100% Chenin Blanc

Pair with Fresh tomato soup, seafood bisque, grilled fish/seafood dishes, vegetarian pizza and pasta dishes, salads, roast or grilled chicken.

Pinotage

Tasting Notes The nose reveals the characteristic sweet red cherries, Christmas with floral hints. Well rounded medium bodied wine with velvet-like tannins, good balanced and integrated fruit.

Blend 100% Pinotage

Pair with Roast chicken, Cape Malay spiced dishes, roast pork, roast lamb, pizza & pasta dishes. Pinotage also works particularly well with flame grilled meats.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes A sophisticated wine revealing complex layers of cassis, dark fruit, hints of leather, tobacco and spice. Well structured, fine velvet tannins and lingering aftertaste.

Blend 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Langtafel White

Tasting Notes Produced in a modern New World style reflecting the unique terroir of  the Cape Granite Soils. Typical tropical notes supported by freshness and a clean well balanced minerality with a lingering fruity aftertaste.

Blend 85% Sauvignon Blanc 15% Chenin Blanc

Enjoy with salads, pizza and pasta dishes. Grilled chicken, grilled fish. Perfect for sundowners.

Langtafel Red

Tasting Notes A soft and mellow fruit-driven wine that can be enjoyed on its own or paired with a wide variety of dishes.

Blend 91% Cabernet Sauvignon 9% Pinotage

Pair with  tomato-based pizza and pasta dishes. Grilled chicken and red meats, braaivleis, charcuterie, light stews.

Langtafel Rose

Tasting Notes A fresh, crisp and well-balanced palate with a clean finish. Firm acid and ample fruit make for an ideal summer wine.

Blend 50% Merlot 50% Cabernet Sauvignon

Pair with Chicken Salad, tomato-based pizza and pasta dishes, grilled seafood, roast chicken.

Vino Baruzzo Novello

Tasting Notes The wine is made in the style of the Italian Novello or the French Beaujolais wines: whole bunches goes by hand into fermentation tanks with minimal skin damage. The result can be seen as red white wine. Nose shows the typical characteristics of carbonic maceration, i.e. cherry sweetness, along with very soft grape tannins. A fresh young and juicy wine that is a delicious summer wine.

Blend 50% Merlot 50% Cabernet Sauvignon

Pair with pasta and pizza. It is advisable that the wine is well chilled prior to drinking. The low alcohol (10.5%) adds to the attraction of the wine.
