Chef Matt Manning hosted the official launch of One Ingredient’s new location at 7th Floor Innovation Centre in Observatory on Thursday, 14 August 2014.

A casual gathering of foodies and fans who were invited to join the event were treated to a selection of eight of Matt’s One Ingredient menu items and a special take-home gift which consisted of the most delicious quince doughnuts and a cleverly branded One Ingredient spoon.

One Ingredient is a dinner concept that focuses on a single ingredient throughout an entire dinner and guests who are attending get to see Matt in action as he conducts a cooking demonstration and then get to prepare some of the dishes themselves. It’s a fun and interactive evening that brings people together around food and lots of wine, as Matt puts it.

The food served at the launch was nothing less than absolutely exquisite. From the wild mushrooms on brioche to the carrot risotto and don’t forget the liquorice marshmallow – everything was beautifully presented and was just a feast for the palate. Wine were free flowing and the Mooiplaas Sauvignon Blanc and Pinotage (which is unwooded), supplied by Mooiplaas Wine Estate, were copiously enjoyed by all. Tribe was also present providing guests with delicious coffee beverages.

While nibbling, sipping and mingling, relaxing background music performed live by the likes of which included Fiona Hare, Carla Conradie and Tim Smal, filled the air and perfected the ambiance.
