EQUANIMITY is an equestrian center on Mooiplaas with a heart for people and horses. In 2011 Tielman Roos was approached by Cherese Naude who was looking for livery for her horse. Equanimity has since grown into a wonderful well-respected equestrian centre. Tielman and wife Janine are very proud of their two Nooitgedacht geldings, Bakgat and Dawie, who literally lives on the ‘veld bossies’ if nothing else is available and are used in riding lessons at the centre. Tielman and Janine share the same passion for horses as Cherese, whose business has grown considerably since the early days in 2011! Situated in the heart of the beautifully tranquil 250ha Mooiplaas Wine Estate, Equanimity has lovely staff, sweet horses and offer some great services. The centre was officially started in 2012.
BOTTELARY HILLS RENOSTERVELD CONSERVANCY was registered in 2002 and comprises about 2000 hectares of farmland set aside by farmers in the Bottelary district for the conservation of indigenous renosterveld. In 1995 Tielman and wife Janine registered the Mooiplaas Private Nature Reserve, one of only two private nature reserves in the Bottelary Hills. The nature reserve is situated in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and the smallest yet richest plant kingdom in the world.
BOTTELARY HILLS MTB TRAIL were opened by the Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy (BHRC) in April 2011. The trails formalise riding in the area and serve as a much needed source of funds to further conservation efforts.
BOTTELARY HILLS WINE CENTRE, started by a few farmers/friends from the Bottelary area, serves as a sales venue and information gateway to all the products and destinations in the Bottelary Wine Route. This wine route is a sub-wine route of the Stellenbosch Wine Routes, one of South Africa’s most popular destinations for both local and overseas tourists. The wine centre is the first of its kind in South Africa and it includes wine sales, wine tastings, a wine-per-glass facility and information centre to promote all the wine producers who are part of Bottelary.
